posted 01/16/2012 First all - thank you to all of you who participated in the BYLA mascot contest from submitting suggestions to voting. We had a great response and it was a nip and tuck contest.
We had multiple people submit a couple of the suggestions, so we used the time stamp of the submission to determine the tie breaker as mentioned in the rules.
BYLA will be incorporating our new mascot along with our current B logo for all of our spirit wear, website, facebook very soon. We are working with a graphic designer to create a logo for the new mascot and we will reveal the results of the design as soon as we have it.
Now without further delay here are the results
First place and winner of free registration for 2012 Summer is
Craig Trenary - Criag was the first to suggest the Bears.
Craig wrote the following with his submission- In a way to pay homage to the original Bloomington Bears, it should be a bear and we should name it "Braveheart".
For those of you with a sense of history - the Bears is a traditional name in Bloomington, the first Bloomington high school, Bloomington Lincoln was nicknamed the Bears and many, many residents hold this to be near and dear to their hearts even after the closing of Lincoln High School in the early 1980's. We will also take Craig's suggestion to name the Bear Braveheart as an homage to the game of lacrosse.
Second Place and winner of 1/2 off their Summer Registration is
Blake Barnett -Blake's suggestion was Babe the Blue Ox.
Third place and winner of a Epoch lacrosse Shaft is
Ben Serstock - Ben was the first person to submit the suggestion of Bloomington Beast
We have sent notification to the winners. Congratulations to all of them and look for the announcement revealing the mascot.
